A Boring Story

I had become slightly concerned that some musical avenues I'd recently began exploring, had been adopted in spite of myself... that is, I was worried that by some subconscious self-trickery I had ended up leaning towards music that I didn't actually like, and had been listening to it merely for it's image and energy, and to fulfil the eternal desire to discover new up-and-coming acts that you think are absolutely amazing, but hardly anyone else has heard of.

I say mainly about the New York band LCD soundsystem, and lots of other stuff on DFA (their record label). I think a lot of it is very good (at least i think that’s what I think...) but some of it can sound a bit 80s in places and I really don't care much for music from that depressing decade...

However I was delighted the other day to discover that Tim Goldsworthy (co-person involved in DFA in a big way) was school friends with James Lavelle and was an original member of UNKLE - another electronic music creating team, which I like and had discovered by completely independent means.

Well, needless to say, this has reassured me that I am not in fact subject to such 'subconscious self-trickery', and that merely the some 80s-style tracks are quite simply a bit crap, and I'll have to be sure to avoid them in future...
